Terms of Use
MintBear Radio Player is a free web player and directory of online radio. This page explains how the service works, what you can do on the site and what data stays on our server along the way. By using the site, you accept these terms.
1. What MintBear Is
MintBear Radio Player is a website and web player for finding and listening to online radio stations. Besides the player, the site has a station directory, airplay history, charts, digests and a mood map.
MintBear works as a player: it plays streams that stations publish on the internet themselves. We do not own these stations or run their broadcasts unless a page says so explicitly.
2. Using the Site
You can listen to radio, look for stations and browse airplay statistics for free and without an account, whether for yourself, for study, for reference or for any other lawful purpose.
Please do not interfere with the site. That means no attempts to reach closed areas, no flooding the server with requests, no bypassing technical limits and no downloading pages at a scale that harms the service, other visitors or the stations. If you need the data in bulk, use the open data exports (section 6).
You are responsible for making sure your listening complies with the laws of your country.
3. Third-Party Streams and Materials
Audio, track titles, covers, logos, artist information and external links belong to radio stations, rights holders and other sources. Any of it can change, disappear or turn out to be inaccurate, and owners may set their own rules for their materials.
We claim no rights to third-party broadcasts, tracks, logos, covers, lyrics, trademarks or metadata. If something needs to be corrected, removed or credited differently, write to info@mintbear.com.
4. What Data We Receive
The site has no sign-up, accounts, ads or cookies. There are no third-party counters either: no Yandex Metrica, no Google Analytics, no social media pixels. We do not ask for or collect names, emails, phone numbers or location, we do not find out who you are, and we build no listener profiles. Visitor data is never shared or sold.
The site cannot run without a technical minimum. The web server logs the IP address, the page address, the request time and the browser description (User-Agent). We use this log to investigate failures and fend off attacks, and it is deleted after 14 days. To rate-limit requests, the server keeps a hash of the IP address, not the address itself, for a few minutes.
The player also sends anonymous technical events to our own server. For example: whether a station started, whether there was a dropout or an error, whether listening lasted under 30 seconds, up to 5 minutes or longer, and how fast the page loaded. It also notes whether search, filters or favorites were used; the search text itself is not sent, only its rough length. Events are not linked to an IP address. Instead they carry a random tab number that lives in sessionStorage and disappears when the tab is closed. The events are deleted after 14 days, and only totals remain.
If Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control is enabled in your browser, the player does not send these events.
Casting to Chromecast from Chrome or Edge on a computer works through Google Cast. The Google Cast component is loaded from Google servers only when you choose “Cast to Chromecast” in the player menu yourself; the browser then connects to the device through Google. Without that action the site does not contact Google.
5. What Stays in Your Browser
Favorite stations, the color theme, the sleep timer and a listening log for the last 30 days are kept in your browser’s localStorage. They are not sent to the server. If you install the site as an app (PWA), the browser keeps copies of pages and files in its cache so the site opens faster.
You can erase all of this by clearing the site data in your browser settings. Your favorites and settings will be gone too.
6. Open Data
MintBear publishes its own airplay statistics: Atom feeds of digests and a weekly Top 100 chart of tracks and artists in JSON and CSV. Export addresses, field descriptions and terms of use are collected on the Open data page. The methodology explains how the numbers are calculated.
The open data covers only what was played on air. It contains no information about MintBear visitors.
When quoting the data, credit the source: "MintBear" with a link to https://mintbear.com/. No open licence is granted for the data yet. Articles, research and coursework may use it with attribution. For resale or bulk use, write to info@mintbear.com.
7. Availability and Changes
We do not guarantee that the site will run without interruptions or that any station will always be available. Pages and features may change, appear or go away for technical, legal or editorial reasons.
8. Liability
The site is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, MintBear Radio Player is not liable for downtime, third-party stream failures, metadata errors, the content of external websites or indirect losses from using the service.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited by law.
9. Contact and New Versions
