MintBear weekly review: the plateau holds while Meet Me In The Dark returns to #1

The Week In Two Words

The week of August 17–23 continued the narrow high plateau that MintBear has been seeing since late July. The archive counted 497885 plays, or 71126 per day on average. That is only 209 below the August 10–16 review, which had 498094. Average unique tracks edged up instead, from 36014 to 36039, while station coverage stayed unchanged at 167 of 170 active stations. On the surface this is almost a copy of the previous week. Under the surface, the ranking of the most repeated records changed, and that is where the useful reading starts.

The previous review left three concrete checks. Could Bizarre keep first place after its 400-spin week? Would Take Me There stay in the Top 20? Would the daily total finally leave the roughly 71k corridor? The answers are mixed. The total did not leave the corridor: Tuesday was the low point at 70822, Sunday the high point at 71504. Take Me There did more than survive in the Top 20; it climbed to #8. Bizarre, however, slipped from 400 to 361 spins and gave the lead back to Meet Me In The Dark, which was nearly unchanged at 377 after 378.

What Happened Most Often

What repeated most often was the weekly structure itself. Background listening covered the whole archive, driving reached 315145 plays, and work listening added 77680. Genres kept the same center: dance led with 217088 plays, electronic followed with 191205, and pop had 138295. Russian music and retro were close to each other at 99933 and 97521. This probably means the mass daytime core is still built from dance and electronic rotation, while retro, Russian pop, and chill keep the side lanes steady rather than pulling the whole week in a new direction.

The airplay chart shows where the internal movement happened. Meet Me In The Dark finished first with 377 spins across 10 stations. That is technically one spin below last week, but Bizarre lost 39 spins, so AVE returned to the top. Na resnitsakh moved from #6 to #3 and added 20 spins, reaching 292. Prosti remained in the top five with 270 after 276, more a hold than a surge. LETO moved from #3 to #5 and fell from 305 to 266, but it still sits inside the dense upper group.

The more interesting movements came below the first five. Take Me There extended last week's signal: the total rose from 200 to 227, and the position improved from #17 to #8. This is no longer just a test after a weekend push; it is regular upper rotation. Sweet Summer Nights jumped from #50 to #12 and added 86 spins. Esli ya budu tantsevat moved even harder, from #88 to #13 and from 103 to 212. IOWA's MY also entered the Top 20 after rising from 134 to 207. It may be that next week is less about total volume and more about whether these new upper-neighborhood tracks can hold a seven-day line.

How The Mood Changed

Mood Map gives almost no dramatic cue. The energetic share by day was 61.7%, 61.8%, 61.8%, 61.8%, 61.7%, 61.7%, and 61.8%. The romantic share stayed between 19.9% and 20.0%. Track segments were just as narrow: energetic tracks ranged from 64.5% to 64.8%, romantic tracks from 21.7% to 21.9%. Balance stayed at 0.699–0.700. That matters editorially: it would be misleading to claim a broad emotional swing when the measured changes are only tenths of a percentage point.

Hourly ranges tell the same cautious story. Most daily movement inside the day stayed around 0.002–0.005 on the individual scales. August 20 had the widest small range, with calm and dance both at 0.005, but that is still micro-movement, not a weekly turn. The better reading is that the archive mood stayed stable while rotation changed inside a familiar energetic profile. The growth of individual songs did not, by itself, pull the Mood Map into a new shape.

What Repeated Day After Day

The main repetition was the daily volume near 71k. Even Tuesday's 70822 did not break the scale of the previous reviews, and Sunday's 71504 only widened the top edge. Unique tracks sat near 36k early in the week and then rose to 36146 and 36182 during the weekend. That is a small difference, but it shows that Sunday's high was helped not only by repeated leaders but also by a slightly wider catalog tail.

The leading tracks were also present all seven days. Meet Me In The Dark ran 57, 55, 52, 55, 52, 53, 53. Bizarre held 53, 50, 50, 52, 53, 53, 50. Na resnitsakh had 42, 38, 43, 42, 40, 43, 44. Prosti stayed visible at 39, 38, 40, 39, 41, 34, 39. LETO moved 39, 39, 38, 39, 36, 40, 35. These lines separate real regularity from one big day. The leaders win because they keep showing up.

The genre mix repeated too. Dance and electronic music stayed central every day, and driving remained the strongest activity layer after background. Chill, study, and work did not change the headline, but they kept the calmer part of the catalog in place. Nostalgic and romantic stations did not become the week's main theme, yet they helped keep the Mood Map balanced. The week reads less like a fight between formats and more like a careful reshuffle within an already familiar grid.

Main Turning Points Of The Week

None of these turning points looks like a break. Tuesday was the quietest day, but the gap to Sunday was 682 plays, under one percent of the daily scale. Thursday had the unique-track low but not the play low. The weekend matters because it confirmed several track paths rather than because the whole archive suddenly jumped. Take Me There, Esli ya budu tantsevat, and IOWA — MY ended stronger than they started. Those lines deserve to be separated from the general stability.

What This Week May Mean For Next Week

For next week, the broad threshold is still simple: a daily total below 70.8k or consistently above 71.5k would matter more than the present small movement. For now the plateau looks alive rather than frozen. The top-line sum barely changes, but leaders and candidates move inside it. The main question may be which tracks use this stable surface, not whether the surface exists.

Bizarre needs a separate check. Its decline does not make it weak: 361 spins and second place are still upper rotation. But last week's leadership forecast did not hold, so the 400 mark may have been a temporary top. Meet Me In The Dark looks like the flatter leader: almost the same total, 10 stations, and seven stable days. Take Me There remains the cleanest growth story because it has turned the watchlist into fact for two weeks in a row. If it keeps a daily range around 30–40, it can be treated as a regular Top 10 member rather than only a candidate.
